We made a short and kinda sweet family trip to Vegas this month. Yes, that’s right, we took 3 little kids to Las Vegas, for a vacation. Yes, it was exhausting. Yes, the adults around us were a tad perturbed. And yes, we had a great time! This is a big mixture of pics from my big girl camera and pics from my iPhone. Because sometimes I just couldn’t have that thing hanging off my neck while trying to traverse the city with these 3 little adventurers.
We definitely had to go check out Circus Circus, the place I remember going, and having a blast, as a kid. It’s funny how when you’re a kid, everything seems so big and magical. And it can look so very different as an adult. But the kids had so much fun here, literally running from ride to ride, playing arcade games, winning too many stuffed animals to carry back to the hotel, watching free circus shows. Jordi even got to ride her first “big kid ride”. My mommy heart was full with their joy.
Curren is afraid of escalators. She took, literally, every set of stairs she possibly could in place of escalators. And if you know Vegas, you know there are a LOT of escalators! She was pretty tired at the end of each day!
So we went to this place called the Secret Garden, where Siegfried and Roy used to do their show with the white tigers. I’m a person who doesn’t believe in keeping wild animals in captivity, not allowing them to live life to their fullest. I like to vote with my dollars, and NOT support places who keep animals like that for entertainment purposes. You won’t find me at Sea World. Ever. Why I thought this place would be different, I have no idea. But boy was my guilt flying high when we were there seeing the animals. It made for a good teaching moment with the kids. Curren said to me while we were there “Mommy, don’t we not agree with animals being locked up like this? I bet those tigers don’t even get to run in those small cages.” I couldn’t agree more, my kind hearted little child!
Yogurt! And this super cool lady saw Kaylan in her Batman sweatshirt on the train. She asked if she could take a picture with Batman. To which Kaylan replied “I’m not really Batman, I’m just a kid wearing a Batman sweatshirt. This is a mask.” Oh my literal child. I couldn’t help but laugh at her cuteness. She was on top of the world after this!
Our Elf did Vegas this year! Haha! The kids brought no less than 3 bags FULL of toys. And we let it happen. You can imagine the cleanup of that hotel room! Our final night we went to see the volcano at the Mirage. It was neat. We had a great time. It was nice to get away for a couple of days. We won’t be taking kids to Vegas again! 😛
