Life in Photos ~ February 2015, Part 2

We made a short and kinda sweet family trip to Vegas this month.  Yes, that’s right, we took 3 little kids to Las Vegas, for a vacation.  Yes, it was exhausting.  Yes, the adults around us were a tad perturbed.  And yes, we had a great time!  This is a big mixture of pics from my big girl camera and pics from my iPhone.  Because sometimes I just couldn’t have that thing hanging off my neck while trying to traverse the city with these 3 little adventurers.

2015-02-24_0009We stayed at Treasure Island, a hotel we discovered is NOT very kid friendly.  Oops! The boats were cool, though!

2015-02-24_0023We definitely had to go check out Circus Circus, the place I remember going, and having a blast, as a kid.  It’s funny how when you’re a kid, everything seems so big and magical.  And it can look so very different as an adult.  But the kids had so much fun here, literally running from ride to ride, playing arcade games, winning too many stuffed animals to carry back to the hotel, watching free circus shows.  Jordi even got to ride her first “big kid ride”.  My mommy heart was full with their joy.

2015-02-24_0022 Processed with VSCOcam with t1 presetI had to give LOTS of piggy back rides.  Little legs couldn’t keep up with Vegas walking.  I lost 5 pounds in 2 days!  Ha!

2015-02-24_0018Photo credit to my future little photographer, Curren, for snapping the only pic of Ty and I!

Processed with VSCOcam with x1 presetCurren is afraid of escalators.  She took, literally, every set of stairs she possibly could in place of escalators.  And if you know Vegas, you know there are a LOT of escalators!  She was pretty tired at the end of each day!

2015-02-24_0019So we went to this place called the Secret Garden, where Siegfried and Roy used to do their show with the white tigers.  I’m a person who doesn’t believe in keeping wild animals in captivity, not allowing them to live life to their fullest.  I like to vote with my dollars, and NOT support places who keep animals like that for entertainment purposes.  You won’t find me at Sea World.  Ever.  Why I thought this place would be different, I have no idea.  But boy was my guilt flying high when we were there seeing the animals.  It made for a good teaching moment with the kids.  Curren said to me while we were there “Mommy, don’t we not agree with animals being locked up like this?  I bet those tigers don’t even get to run in those small cages.”  I couldn’t agree more, my kind hearted little child!

2015-02-24_0008 2015-02-24_0007I couldn’t resist a family growling portrait  😀

2015-02-24_0006 2015-02-24_0005 2015-02-24_0004They had some truly beautiful cats!

2015-02-24_0014 2015-02-24_0012 2015-02-24_0013Yogurt!  And this super cool lady saw Kaylan in her Batman sweatshirt on the train.  She asked if she could take a picture with Batman.  To which Kaylan replied “I’m not really Batman, I’m just a kid wearing a Batman sweatshirt.  This is a mask.”  Oh my literal child.  I couldn’t help but laugh at her cuteness.  She was on top of the world after this!

2015-02-24_0016 2015-02-24_0015Our Elf did Vegas this year!  Haha! The kids brought no less than 3 bags FULL of toys.  And we let it happen.  You can imagine the cleanup of that hotel room!  Our final night we went to see the volcano at the Mirage.  It was neat.  We had a great time.  It was nice to get away for a couple of days.  We won’t be taking kids to Vegas again!  😛

Life in Photos ~ February 2015, Part 1

What a crazy month February has been.  I’m having a hard time believing that we are already almost finished with the second month of 2015.  I mean, Christmas is only 10 months away!!  Yay!  JK.  I can definitely wait for Christmas.  Anyway, here’s some random parts of our crazy month, because, well, sometimes I just get random stuff!

This is some of the amazing momma’s in our group knitting and crocheting at park day.  It’s such a nice, relaxing time to hang out with our friends, have some adult interaction, and get your knit on!  They have been so kind to even get me going on my very own knitting project, which is almost complete.  The array of talent in our group is astounding, and I’m always learning something new from these people!

And here are some more random ones.  Jordi loves this little vintage dress I found in a vintage store a couple of years ago.  She calls it her “tiny dress” (even standing here next to me as I write this), and is often used in her repertoire of dresses she puts on daily.  This girl really will go through 3-8 dresses per day depending on what we are doing!  She’s very fashion forward  😛  I have plans to do a photo shoot with this pretty dress in a pretty field with gorgeous light in that beautiful red hair… do you see it?!?  I’ll just have to show you when I take it  😀

Croquet anyone?  They’re learning some fun new games at park day.  Sports class is coming soon, can’t wait to see them do that!  Hopefully they have more coordination than their mother…  Que iPhone photos from here!

The girls informed me that we had never been to a donut shop where they could pick out their own donuts.  SAY WHAAAA???  We remedied that right quick. I mean, what kid hasn’t been able to pick a donut out from the donut shop?  Apparently my kids.  It was a fun time, and they were stoked.  It’s the little things.

And last but not randomly least, some of the things Curren has been doing.  She made a board game to play, weaved her doll a hat (I accidentally had her make it too small for  her head  😀 ), learning about air pressure in science class, and making some bouncy balls out of elastic polymer!  We have some serious fun around here!

Ok, that’s it for the randomness, for now. If you would like your life captured in photos, contact me today!

Life in Photos ~ November 2014, Part 3

It’s been such a fun month of friends birthdays, beach trips, field trips, time with family, and enjoying this fabulous fall weather.  This post is really a random spattering of that fun throughout the month.  No rhyme or reason.  Just some lovely life in photos for you to enjoy.

2014-11-26_0012Jordi was determined to get these bubbles open.  I didn’t want her to because, well, she would pour them all over herself!  She found herself a toothpick from the cupcakes, and went to town on poking through the foil.  Smart kid.

2014-11-26_0011I love that it is, pretty much, always beach weather, and that we always have friends who want to meet us there!

Life in Photos ~ October 2014, Part 3

I love our Park Days.  The kids play for hours with their friends, I play for hours with my friends, and we have super fun things, like the Adventures of the Buttstache!  Oh children…

2014-10-30_0009“Show me your missing teeth!”

2014-10-30_0008 2014-10-30_0007I couldn’t believe I had never introduced my girls to the fun of jump roping.  Maybe because it’s best taught with 2 adults turning the rope!  This was such a fun time watching them try it for the first time, and they rocked it!  I love watching them try and conquer new things with such confidence and joy.

2014-10-30_0022 2014-10-30_0017The kids created an art show for the parents to attend.  I love their freedom to create and express themselves, and how they take it and run with it. It’s inspiring!

Life in Photos ~ August 2014, Part 1

One of my favorite things about moving to the beach right before summer?  It’s like having a vacation all summer long!  The season tricked me, making me believe it was passing slowly and leisurely, but now here we are at the end of August, a new school year upon us, the sun is setting earlier every day, and I’m actually wearing sweatshirts at night!  Signs that the seasons are changing.  It’s been a blast of a summer, hanging out with our new homeschool friends, having sleepovers with grandma, kayaking and the beach, the movies, staying up late, reading lots of books in the shade.  I couldn’t have asked for a better summer!  I also tend to be lazier about photo taking in the summer, lots of these memories being locked up inside this memory of mine.  Here’s some I did remember to take this month!

We went to a sand castle building contest in Long Beach, it was so cool!  This was Curren’s favorite, the T-Rex.  I didn’t catch many pictures that day while I chased Jordison around the crowded beach.  I had this visual of her being just out of reach and destroying someone’s awesome sand castle.  She didn’t do it…but I have no doubt she would have!

I just really love when Jordi sleeps.  I mean I love when she’s awake, too! But when she’s like this, it’s such a sweet reminder that this little munchkin is still my baby girl!

Something else I love about our homeschool group (check out Life in Photos- July 2014, Part 1 if you haven’t seen it!) is our weekly park days.  Never have I stayed so long at a park until I joined this group.  We enjoy a nice, 7 hour day at most park days. Yes, 7 hours at the park! I was amazed at what kids find to do with themselves when they are left with so much time to just play!  It’s become one of our favorite days of the week.  This super fun park day consisted of a few hours of box house building.  3 words- SO MUCH FUN!
